Macrophotography can be done in a variety of ways, but for the greatest results and professional quality output, a specialized macro lens is a way to go.

That’s what this post is all about. We’ll discuss the 5 Best Macro Lens for Canon cameras in 2022. There’s a fantastic macro lens available to fit every Canon system.

Let’s get this party started.

Best Macro Lens for Canon

Canon EF 100 mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM

Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM Macro Lens for Canon Digital SLR Cameras, Lens Only

The Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L IS USM Macro Lens is the first mid-telephoto macro lens to include Canon’s sophisticated Image Stabilization. With the higher…

The Canon 100 mm macro lens is also equipped with hybrid optical stabilization, which is a good feature for shooting objects that are both close and far away. Ring-type ultrasonic autofocus and a three-position autofocus limiter switch, popular in higher levels, can be found on the upmarket side. The lens has both weather resistance and an Ultra-low Dispersion element. Image quality is excellent all the way down to f/22, allowing you to extract a little more depth of field. Autofocus is quick and accurate, with no hunting or noise even when focusing manually. The manual focus ring is smooth and precise, which is very important for most macro shooting.

If you use the EOS R, the new Canon RF 100 mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM offers 1.4x magnification, 8 stops of stabilization, and a bokeh control ring.

Canon RF 85 mm F2 Macro IS STM

Canon RF 85mm F2 Macro is STM, Compact Medium-Telephoto Black Lens

The RF85mm F2 Macro IS STM medium telephoto lens expands on the versatility of bright, macro, IS-equipped prime lenses built for the EOS R system. Wit…

The standard portrait lens for 35 mm cameras has been a bright 85 mm lens, and this is also true for digital full-frame cameras. Because of the focal length, distance from the subject may be maintained, which prevents distortion. The high brightness allows you to limit the depth of field, which separates the model from the background.

The Canon RF 85 mm F2 Macro IS STM is a telephoto lens that can be used for both portraiture and macro photographs. It is only 1/3 stop dimmer than the F1.8 we see on today’s 85 mm lenses, with a brightness of F2. It is also one-stop brighter than most macro lenses. The bright light of this 85 mm makes it ideal for shooting portraits with a wide aperture. And, unlike most other 85 mm lenses, this portrait lens allows you to shoot portraits extremely close up or just someone’s eye if needed.

Canon RF 35 mm f/1.8 IS Macro STM Lens

Canon RF35mm F1.8 IS Macro STM Lens, Black

The RF 35mm f/1.8 is macro STM from Canon is a unique wide-angle prime mixing the versatility of a general wide lens with the specialty of a 1: 2 macr…

The Canon EOS R mirrorless system was introduced earlier this year with the RF 35 mm F1.8 IS STM as one of four lenses, making it the first camera in the company’s new line of EOS R cameras.

It’s the only non-L-series lens to date, although that will change soon with the release of the RF 24-240mm F4-6.3 IS USM later this year. It’s also considerably cheaper than the next cheapest lens in the system, and its focal length and aperture, as well as being a prime lens, allow it to be significantly smaller and lighter than all other choices so far. This should make it particularly appealing to EOS RP owners looking to experiment with the camera’s native lens selection but who are overwhelmed by the other current native options.

Canon TS-E 135mm f/4L Macro

Canon 135mm f/4L Macro -Tilt-Shift DSLR Lens

Canon’s first 135mm Tilt-Shift Lens brings a new dimension to the renowned EF Lens system. The long focal length of this extraordinary optic enables a…

The Canon TS-E 135mm f/4L Macro Lens is one of three tilt-shift macro lenses released by Canon at the end of 2017. The 135mm isn’t replacing anything in Canon’s range of tilt-shift lenses, unlike the 50mm and 90mm new tilt-shift lenses.

This lens is designed for studio photographers who shoot food and products, allowing you to change the plane of focus in-camera without the need for photo editing software.

It is a macro lens with a minimum focusing distance of 49cm and a ratio of 1:2, like the other new tilt-shift lenses. The lens has 11 components in 7 groups, with 9 diaphragm blades.

The Canon TS-E 135mm f/4L Macro Lens costs approximately £2,500, which is the same as the other two new tilt-shift lenses.

Sigma Macro 105 mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM

Sigma 258306 105mm F2.8 Ex-DG OS HSM Macro-lens for Nikon DSLR Camera

The Sigma 105mm f/2.8 EX DG OS HSM Macro Lens for Nikon DSLR Cameras offers advanced performance of close-up photography. The OS (Optical Stabilizer) …

The Sigma 150 mm F/2.8 EX DG OS HSM with Canon EF mount is a large aperture medium telephoto macro lens with high close-up performance. Handheld close-up photography is possible thanks to Sigma’s own proprietary OS (Optical Stabilizer) system. To correct all types of aberration and distortion, the camera uses an SLD lens with a special low dispersion (SLD) design and one high refractive index SLD lens. A floating focusing mechanism shifts the two lens groups in the optical path to match the subject distance.

This system corrects for astigmatism and spherical aberration, allowing for very high optical quality from infinity to 1:1 Macro. The Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting while providing vibrant pictures. It’s also possible to use this lens with Sigma’s APO TELE CONVERTERS. The HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) ensures quiet and rapid automatic focusing as well as full-time manual focus capability. This lens has a rounded 9 blade diaphragm, which gives an attractive blur to the out-of-focus parts of the photo.
